Drag and drop Environment Texture

When making materials for objects, it's very convenient to drag and drop the Textures from the file browser into the shader editor, which creates the Image texture node.

However, Image textures are barely ever used in the World shader editor. Dragging and dropping there should create the environment texture node instead.

Alternatively: I don't really get why "Image texture" and "Environment texture" are two different nodes. They are essentially the same thing, the only difference being the texture transform, perhaps? They are both image nodes, that can be used as textures for something... Why not just have one node type, with a checkbox switch? Would be more intuitive.

yeah that would make way more sense

The difference is precisely the projection methods.

IMHO I'm not sure it is even necessary to have two distinct nodes for that, it could be merged in one node with all the projections methods. The only downside is that there would not be an automatic hdri node setup anymore, but maybe blender could automatically switch to equirectangular when loading a 2x1 hdr texture.
