PhysX

With Nvidia PhysX being Open Source now, could it be integrated into Blender? It would be a great addition to Blenders Physics Simulations as it does not only work on Nvidia but also on AMD GPUs.

isn't Bullet already widely considered better than PhysX, in the general sense?

* @testure * Depend of what you think "better"

Bullet is slower and less accurate than PhysX

lynray

It is WORSE (unoptimized). PhysX is better

AnthonyGuiziou

Everyone was always hype on NVIDIA product, but it's not better than other product like Bullet

i am pretty sure there are open source things that already surpassed PhysX.

No

i'm curious if the futur node based physics will be based on physX like we see on omniverse today in 2021? is itsomething compatible with open source project like blender? or like addon?

softyoda

Still no news about this... i'm really sad, is there any way to implement this in blender ?

testure

* @yoann softyoda * of course, there is always a way. just pull down the source and get to work. at the end of the long and painful process of getting it working you'll be rewarded with an inferior physics system, how's that for motivation?

softyoda

* @testure * Motivation : have real time... I woudn't need eevee or a rtx card if it would be as easy to do 3D stuff in 2020 as it was in 1985 with all in wireframe and i would still use a stereoplotter... But dyntopo and real time freedback is the best way to archive something visually and artisticly beautifull. If i want to simulate real life, i would go to houdini or solidworks.

testure

* @yoann softyoda * sounds like you're sufficiently motivated, better get started pulling down that source :)

It's only the SDK though.

Heck yes
