Generalizing Materials

Blender 5.2 allows adding geometry nodes modifiers to empties, and geometry nodes allow changing a geometry's material. So it makes sense to allow empties to have materials to be able to quickly modify the materials applied to its generated geometry through geometry nodes.

Furthermore, grease pencil objects should be allowed to have non-GP materials . since again, geometry nodes allows them to have non-GP components.

I think this will be very confusing as the UI will then be cluttered with many options that doesn't do a thing. In that case you could say (don't think we should) to remove all object types as they will all have all the options that any other has.

IMO a UI should help users with what they want to achieve. This is a bit in the reverse direction and not suitable for any user.
