Add Full MacOS Sidecar Support

MacOS Catalina and iPadOS have an awesome feature called Sidecar, which creates an extended workspace by turning a connected iPad into a second, fully interactive display. One of the best things about this is that it enables you to use the apple pencil in Blender. For full functionality however, Blender needs to implement sidecar-specific changes to add pressure sensitivity, tilt and double tap support. Cinema 4D, Maya and ZBrush have already confirmed support for this feature, it would be great if Blender would follow.

The new Apple Pencil Pro supports gestures on the side, such as squeeze and double tap. It would be great if Blender would support those as right click, as right now there doesn't seem to be a way to right click when using the Pencil.

I'm trying to use sidecar with Blender too, and I'm lookin for tiny steps forward I could contribute as someone with a software development background.

One thing I managed to get working in the existing UI is getting the sidecar undo button working. I got the keymap working for it. I bet we could get that to be a default keybinding - make "undo" button do the "undo" action.

This would probably affect other keyboards with an undo button for the better, too!

Isnt it already supported? I tried and I can rotate / zoom with my fingers while sculpting with the pencil. Not sure if it has full support tho like double tap the Apple Pencil for example.

testure

blender doesn't even support multiple monitors properly. i'm all for something like this but we're a long way off imo.

* @testure * Kind of curious, but I've had no problems with multiple monitors in 2.8. is there anything specific you are referring too?

testure

* @Zach Hixson * oh yeah, it 'works' if all you want to do is stretch the window out to fill up two monitors, but you can't do anything a modern application would be expected to do in a multi-monitor setup. IE) rip off individual parts of the UI and move them to another screen, etc.

zhixson.xbdi

* @testure * if you shift + drag a corner it rips out (well, duplicates) and you can move it to another monitor and do whatever you want to it.

And there's also this: demo pic

* @-L0Lock- * Yep! although I would probably recommend just using New Windows instead of main windows. Unless you need to work on multiple scenes at once on different monitors, a standard window will eliminate a lot of confusion

* @Zach Hixson * My picture was mainly to show you can create different windows using the Window menu, in addition to the corner shift drag method. But you're right.
