Merge Timeline and Dope Sheet

I know it has been discussed but it looks like it is not anymore. I think it would be very convenient to have an all in one Timeline + Dope Sheet, it feels stupid to switch from Timeline to Dope Sheet while they are so close in many ways. Maybe I miss some issues? Is it a question of cluttered UI? It could easily be fixed...

Here is a try of merging, of course some of these menus could be summed up by some icons.

Yeah, I work professionally in Blender and don't know the difference. In 2.9 and before, the timeline served as an extremely simplified dopesheet, meant more for scrubbing and getting a general preview of things. In 2.8+ it was expanded to be some weird hybrid, so it doesn't make sense to keep it as two separate things

I suggest Ctrl + Tab Switches between Timeline and Dope Sheet .. Currently The Timeline is not in the Keymap Editor but it should not be that difficult to implement.

* @Lloyd Almeida * yes I agree, it would make more sense than switch from Timeline to Graph Editor, it would be a progress, but the separation between Timeline and Dope Sheet would still stay frustrating

The plan is to eventually get rid of the Timeline editor. projects.blender.org/blender/blender/issues/131102
