PBR Texture Generation Node similar to materialize PBR texture generator
Hello everyone,
This is an idea of having a "PBR Texture generation node" inside of blender. Using a Single image to generate PBR textures with a few clicks (similar to Materialize, B2M). It would be a time saver and don't have to use third-party softwares anymore for texture map creation process.
PBR Texture generation node (Idea) - Steps Simplified:
- Search for an image in google
- open the image in blender's "PBR Texture node" (single node with built-in value sliders for each map).
- change the built-in values on the PBR Texture node to generate each texture maps while seeing the results in real-time with Eevee/ lookdev.
- Once everything looks fine, just link the output from the PBR Texture node to the Principled BSDF shader to use it as a PBR material.
Thank You :)

You can probably do something similar (and share it;)) with nodegroups
I think that's something AssetGen does.
Is Normalize or Crazy bump is not enough? Why do you ask to do the same, especially those software is free? Yo can easily add PBR setup with Node Wrangler.
So the maximum, IMO is software bridge to any existing tool. As addon.
* @ Vyacheslav * Thanks for the reply. Crazy Bump is not free. And, I am suggesting this idea from the beginners perspective as well. If someone wants to learn blender why would they go for other tools for basic texture creation? Also, creating texture maps in blender is possible with nodes. But, we have to use many nodes to create PBR textures. That's why I am suggesting an idea of a single PBR texture node, which saves time for everyone with few adjustments on the value sliders to get the PBR result with a sigle image in realtime vieweport (WYSIWYG). Yes, With node wrangler addon enabled you can create the pbr setup with a click of a shortcut. But, we should have the texture maps ready to use with node wrangler. So, the ideas is to create textures maps with a single PBR Texture node.
* @joerex123 * Oh, i mixed Crazy and Awesome bump. At first i would like to see texture sample pointer: blender.community/c/rightclickselect/fHcbbc/texture-sample-pointer Then ability to script path. And then such nodegroup will be able.
May be this can help: youtu.be/c74ahsgeuYA
I just ran across a node group called "Super Texture" @blenderartists.com which may do what you're looking for & that may be useful to you.

This seems like a very big project, but it would be really nice to have.
