Open Shaders Library
Tools like Poly Haven, Quixel Bridges, Substance offer image-based materials libraries.
We should make a Shader Library. Easy-weight, integrated in Blender.
This library would be open-source, forkable. The GitHub of Shaders.
Realistic and optimised shaders could get "Featured" of "Officialised". A selection of "essential" shaders corresponding to classic materials.
Imagine a library where you could find a standard 24-carat gold, a grainy alternative, an olive wood, a river shader.
As shader are only numbers, the weight of these shaders is almost unexisting. This library could be integrated in the Blender interface, with the ability to download or publish or submit new, custom, shaders.
I know Add-Ons exist for this, but their shaders amount is limited and closed to any evolution.

That's Blenderkit , or any online asset library integration you can think of.
But Blenderkit ended up being removed from Blender , because the BF decided that any tool shipped with Blender should, among other things, not require an Internet connection outside of blender.org to be able to work.
