Select More for curves
You can use the select more command for meshes to select all connected polygons next to your current selection but this does not work for curves even though the single points of the curve are connected, too.

It's really easy to set the shortcuts for "curve.select_more" and "curve.select_less" on the 3D View/ Curve/ globals ibb.co/tJTCzVP . I got them already set up with the custom keymap from here blenderartists.org/t/a-proper-keymap-for-blender and it works the same with mesh and uvs. I encourage everyone to test it and learn from it even if it won't be the preferred keymap you use.
I did not know there was already a command for that. I would love if Blender automatically chose the correct select more command based on the selection
But you can just give both commands, mesh.select_more and curve.select_more the same hotkey
yes, Shift+MouseWheel up or down is all I use
