Possibility to use vector textures

I don't think I have to convince anyone how pleasant and fast working with vector graphics can be.

A few years ago, Witold Jaworski created his own extension for Blender 2.4. It allows to use svg files as textures:

however, since then code has not been developed anymore, but in my opinion this kind of graphics has a very high potential. The main advantages of working with vectors are precision and speed of work but at the moment we cannot take full and direct advantage of these benefits in Blender, for example as textures or masks, because first we have to rasterize this type of file...

The process of rasterizing may seem simple, but in some cases we encounter constant problems with anti aliasing,

An additional advantage of vector textures is their very small size on the disk, you can imagine how fast you can transfer such small files to a render farm for example.

I am convinced that this type of functionality would make blender an even more versatile and useful tool :)

I keep searching for this and have found all the old addons that used to make it work - it really surprises me that the ability hasnt been taken up - especially as we move into a world of VR etc where high details are key.

I remember an old build of 2.5 or 2.6 that had svg support

Using vector graphics as texture is a really interesting feature as it open Blender to a new world of images resources.

The problem with the SVG file format is its constant evolution. Not even the navigators displays all the images the same way.
