Set parent of selected items by drag and drop on to parent item

Right now if you have a selection of multiple items in the outliner and you and drag and drop them on to an item it will parent the active item. It would be awesome if it parented the entire selection.

This behavior is present in Unity 3d (Game Engine) hierarchy and its very convenient.

Definitely! Or at least, for consistency, Alt+drag to apply to all selected items

Came here to post this if it had not been posted already. New users like me are going to be very confused why they cannot box select a bunch of nodes in the Outliner and drag them to be the child of another node in the hierarchy. I know that there is a difference between the Collection and other views that complicates this issue... but this type of WYSIWYG drag and drop parenting is very common and super useful in a DCC application. Also you can drag and drop one at a time so it's not like this functionality would be completely new or antithetical to how Blender works already.

I wonder why this hasn't more upvotes. It is a very important core functionality.

Yes, I'm a new comer to blender from XSI and this is a must!! Basically the ability to easily select multiple objects and drag and dropping to another object or collection should work for the entire selection, not just the active object. Please try to make this on 2.8 as soon as possible, since this helps a lot on scene layout, making render passes, rigging, etc

Here is a small video capture I did to show how it works in XSI showmore.com/u/zmyvnxh
