Regarding the issue of poor flame and smoke effects in the new version
Compared to the flame in version 2.8, the flame effect in the new version after 4.0 is really poor. With the same two domains and emitter, how could there be such a big difference in effect

The simulation is different because, in the 6 years between 2.8 and 5.0, Blender 2.82 was released, and one of its biggest features was the replacement of the old smoke/liquid simulators with Mantaflow . Because Mantaflow completely overhauled the simulator, most settings were changed or replaced, and therefore, all settings were reset to default as part of the upgrade.
Because the settings are reset to default, the simulation is not expected to look the same as it did 6 years ago, so you have to change the settings to be similar to what you had before.
Unfortunately, after studying for a few days, I still cannot reproduce the effect of version 2.8. If you can reproduce the effect of video 2 in versions 4.0 and later, please guide me
The most important thing I can find to get close to your pre-2.82 results is by turning on initial velocity for the emitter, and then cranking source up to around 5. If you want the fire to last longer, you can turn up fuel as well.
Excuse me, is the Flow Source you are using particles? Or grid? Using grids in Flow Source and setting the source to 5 does have a much better effect, but my video uses particles as Flow Source, and after modification, the effect still did not meet expectations
I used a particle system and tried to match your video as much as possible, but there might have been a scale or resolution difference, or something else that I didn't see.
Can the effect of smoke spraying forward and then spreading be achieved? I have tried many times, but the smoke is always in a straight line, and then the smoke floats upwards, just like in my video 1, the effect is not good
Are you using smoke or fire? If smoke, perhaps your smoke is too dense, if fire, then maybe you could lower reaction speed in the fire settings of your domain? I must admit I'm at a bit of a loss here, as I can get fairly close to your video just by enabling Initial Velocity and increasing Source, but you seem to not be able to.
Okay, thank you brother. I adjusted some parameters and can imitate about 80% now. Unfortunately, we cannot send videos or pictures here, otherwise we can see the effect
Embergen trial and im prettty sure vdb export works when it ends, houdini also allows vdb export for free, i liked using them and bringing them into blender more than blender fire
Thank you, I am also considering using Embergen. I will study it when I have time
Embergen is pretty great since it's realtime, fun just to play with and get instant results, teaches you how forces work so you can better visualize it in slower programs.
ok, I'll give it a try.
There might be different settings for blender 5.0, considering how many years it is past blender 2.8. Maybe try checking some of the domain settings, see if it has exactly the same settings as blender 2.8, which it might not considering all the advancements made between these versions. Also, it might use a slightly different method for fluid simulation in blender 5.0, settings that produced one result for blender 2.8 could easily produce a different result for a version that came out years later. Try experimenting with the settings, and look for any differences that may have been produced by opening in blender 5.0. The blender documentation might say something about it, or there might be some tutorials for how to do it properly in the new version. If nothing works, you could run the simulation in blender 2.8, and then import the bake files to blender 5.0.
The settings are the same, I have compared them, and the domain and emitter are directly copied from 2.8 to 5.0. You said there are so many versions apart, but in fact, the difference between 2.8 and 4.0 is also the same
And I think the new version should have better effects, but currently I have made multiple attempts in the new version and cannot achieve similar results
It might be possible to bake the simulation in blender 2.8 and then import those into blender 5.0.
You wonder how could there be different results from different systems years apart from each other?
I think the new version doesn't work well
Looks like you've just used the same settings and called it, instead of trying to duplicate the result?
No, I have tried to increase the external wind force, but it cannot achieve satisfactory results. I can only replicate about 70% of the effect
