Comments on Nodes
It would be really useful to be able to add comments to a node network, perhaps by typing "/" when having a reroute selected, it could open a node just for text. It would be great to explain for future users what's going on.

Such suggestion already exist (use search), it even has link to outdated GenericNote adon for this.
Here attempt to include this addon as built in, but it was denied because of "Frame nodes can now display text, this is quite primitive still - it doesn't do text wrapping for example... but I would rather see that improved then drawing & wrapping text in Python." Still not implemented though, I guess....
Dont know if you are talking about shader nodes but you can use a frame node with a label
Frame node label has limited length (at least in 2.93.4 I use right now).
For my experience it have almost no limit, altought i never made a gieant node tree
