Light Textures in Eevee

There's a really simple technique I find useful in many situations: adding simple image textures to my lights. This can add visual interest to scene lighting by breaking it up like a gobo.

It's incredibly useful. I use it for flashlight beams, spotlights, point lights, area lights—just about everywhere.

Unfortunately, Eevee doesn't support this, which is a significant limitation holding me back from fully embracing Eevee. I'm wondering if it's possible to implement.

Here are some scenes using image textures rendered in Eevee, then in Cycles, to demonstrate the difference. This technique can quickly add light color and value variation to a scene.

Great idea ! I also appreciate that you did take the time to create a real RCS proposal instead of just making a tween rambling about the fact that Blender doesn't have whatever feature :D

Your the man !
