Enhanced Loop Cut Functionality
Current Behavior: In Blender, the Loop Cut tool currently places the cut at the center of the edge loop by default, regardless of the mouse cursor's position. This behavior can be inconvenient, especially when the center of the shape is not visible within the user's current view. Users often have to zoom out to locate and adjust the loop cut, disrupting the workflow.
Proposed Improvement: Modify the Loop Cut tool to follow the mouse cursor's position, placing the cut where the user is pointing. Additionally, introduce a hotkey option to center the loop cut within the edge loop for those times when a centered cut is desired.
Benefits:
Intuitive User Experience:
-
Aligns the Loop Cut tool's behavior with user expectations, as many other tools in Blender follow the mouse cursor.
-
Increased Efficiency: Reduces the need for users to zoom out to find and adjust the loop cut, speeding up the modeling process.
-
Enhanced Flexibility: Allows users to quickly choose between a precise cut at the mouse position or a centered cut, depending on their needs, without breaking the workflow.
Conclusion: Implementing this change would make the Loop Cut tool more intuitive and efficient, significantly enhancing the overall user experience in Blender.

Hi Santray,
I see your point but have you tried using the shortcut CTRL + R? It's a faster way of modeling regardless of which modeling tool you are using. Keeping the object in view is an essential part of modeling in Blender. Unless I misunderstood?
Beaug, I think you misunderstand. I assume Santray is aware of Ctrl + R. The issue at hand is that the loop cut tool automatically inserts a cut at the center of the edge in question. What is being proposed is being able to insert a loop cut at the mouse cursor position (which I am very much in favor of). This eliminates the need to insert the centered cut and then drag the cut to where you want it. The only other alternative that I am aware of is needing to use the knife tool with cut through and angle snap enabled to add a slice where you want - which is kind of like jumping through hoops IMO with regards to loop cutting.
