Solidify width
Having a width option on the solidify modifier in blender would be a step forward in the procedural modeling. I had to apply the solidify modifier almost every time of time only to adjust the width, which is not really convenient.

I'm not sure if "width" communicates best what you want to say here. I would recommend attaching a 3D sketch instead of a profile.
Please attach an actual example where you needed it. (I also don't get it yet)
Couldn't you do it with the vertex group option ? I don't really understand your diagram
* @Gorgious * the modifier generate the solidified geometry along the existing normals, that's why having parameters that allows to change the width of the generated geometry can help having more control on the mesh without applying the modifier
