Group Image files in Image Editor menu by Materials that use them / sorting options

An option that would be useful would be if image files in the Image Editor menu were optionally grouped by the Materials that used them. This would be a simple hierarchy-- the Material name as a header, and then all images used by that Material below.

Currently image files are sorted in the menu alphabetically. That should still be an option (a RIGHT CLICK option in the dropdown list) but other sorting options as above (and others!!) could be added.
