Versioning System for Assets in Blender's Asset Browser
One improvement that could greatly enhance the organization of the Asset Browser is the ability to create version groups for a single asset.
For instance, if you have the same texture in 2K, 4K, and 8K, instead of displaying three separate assets, the Asset Browser could allow you to group them under a single entry. When selecting the asset, users could click and hold (or use a specific shortcut) to reveal and choose between the available resolutions.

This versioning system could also apply to:
-
Materials with different texture resolutions
-
Objects with minor variations (e.g., with or without wear)
Slight variations of assets that don't justify becoming entirely new items
Additionally, the Asset Browser could display a small visual indicator showing that an asset has multiple versions, making library management cleaner, more intuitive, and scalable, especially for studios or artists working across different quality levels.
