Change Active UV Map and Add/Delete UV Maps on Multiple Objects

Woah, surprised you can't do this I think. Was trying to set up some light maps realised this wasn't possible! But yeah you basically can't add, delete or switch active UV maps on multiple objects. I'd have to join the objects all together to do this. Maybe if you just hold ALT like everything else it'd work on multiple objects. Feels like something super important for Game Development.

Agreed, but in the meantime here's an operator I just whipped up that can help speed things up for you: pastebin.com/wNWdUJdC

Pretty easy to use, just select all of the objects you want to change the uvlayer on, then on the active object make sure the correct uv layer is selected. After you run the operator, everything else in the selection will be on the matching uv layer (if it doesn't exist it will skip that object)

* @testure * Thank you so much!

* @testure * , hello! Thank you very much for providing this code! But I can't get it working, tried Run Script from Text Editor -- nothing happens... The selection of UV layers on all selected objects remain the same -- UVMap is selected on some of them, UVMap.001 -- on others. UVMap is selected on the active object. What am I doing wrong?

Edit: I've asked the question on Blender StackExchange and got another script that is working for me. Maybe it will be useful for someone else, so I'll post the link here:

blender.stackexchange.com/questions/173370/how-to-switch-between-uv-maps-on-multiple-objects

I've ran the script, and the new button "Set UV Layer on all Objects in Selection" has appeared in the UV Maps (Properties Menu). And as documented in the manual, you can save your script in the scripts/startup/ directory with a .py extension and it will be automatically imported and ran on startup.

Oh and a operator to rename (multipple) UV channels on multiple objects would be useful.

* @Pawel Piotrowski * You can use an addon: Asset Creation Toolset, it has this function for renaming UV channels for chosen UV index (starts with 0). It has many useful functions, really =) Link to addon: gumroad.com/l/hPXIh

This ties in to this proposal: blender.community/c/rightclickselect/qfcbbc/

You can't multi-edit most things on several selctions at once. In some cases you can do a copy to all and in others there is a plugin to help you (like for the materials).

The proposal above even has benn accepted but currently there is no developer to take care of it. :-/

I really appreciate the addons, but this is a very basic and much needed function for video game artists. Telling people who are new to Blender they need an addon to do something so basic in the UI is a turn off. I really wish we could get this function built into Blender.

I've compiled these few operators and turned it into a small addon, it's free and it lets you set active, set active render, create and delete UV layers. Here's the link:
