Node Grouping: Keep port mappings and names when Group Input node selected

Sometimes one input goes to multiple places (what I love about nodes), but when I select some nodes and group them, these combo port mappings are not retained, even when the Group Input node is part of the selection . Also the custom name is lost. I think having the Group Input node in the selection when grouping should signal to keep the port mappings and names from the Group Input.
