List and sort hotkeys/functions by how often they're used.
I've got what I believe isn't a too narrow use case of wanting to make Blender work better with my workflow. The problem is that everyone has a different workflow.
So, I'm proposing the ability to create a persistent file in Blender (maybe linked to the startup file?) that would essentially log and count the hotkeys used across multiple sessions and files.
This way, a user would be able to do one of two things:
-
If they have a non-programmable keyboard and/or don't want to work with something like AutoHotKey, they can simply change the keys and key combinations within blender based on what they use most often, and something that is more efficient (i.e. keeping one hand on the mouse and one on the keyboard at all times, without having to move the keyboard hand all over the place)
-
If they have a programmable keyboard (i.e. something that uses the QMK firmware) they can create a "Blender Layer" that they can switch to with all of their most used hotkeys mapped to something more efficient for the same reasons listed above.
I think that this could be viewed as a very narrow use case, but in reality, we are all learning from different sources and building up our own workflow, and if we each had the ability to make Blender work with us in this manner, I think we'd all be a lot better off.
I have no specific proposal as to how to implement this, so if you think this is an interesting idea, please help me brainstorm on how to get it working, and we can push it to the devs or build an add-on to do the same task.
