Duplicate objects - problem and suggestion

When we "duplicate object" as shift+d for object, eg. cube like on image, and this cube is parent, then object is duplicated with this parent relation [line] . I have sugestion to "duplicate linked" as alt+d with this parent, but when shift+d duplicate without parent relation [line] (just free object).

It be nice to duplicate by RMB in outliner, as pasted on this same place.

Not sure why can't copy object or duplicate with relations by main cube to duplicate realted objects to.

I have read like 10 times and I can't get what you try to tell....

When you duplicate object and this object is parent, then object duplicated with this parent what?

to duplicate linked as Alt+D with this parent, but when Shift+D duplicate without parent WHAT???

* @IIIFGIII * sure..I will try explain again. Take point on context menu as "duplicate object" and "duplicate linked"

As on image we se the cube that is parent, and both Alt+D and Shift+D duplicate object with atribute parent. The idea is to separate this algorithm as:

  1. Shift+D as "duplicate object" WITHout parent
  2. Alt+D as "duplicate linked" WITH parent

Coz if I doing this duplicate operation, sometimes not need parent relation, and must do next operation as "Clear and Keep Transformation" (alt+P). I know that there is no relation betwen parent and linked, but want simulate this by this option/function.

* @ManBlender * But Alt+D to duplicate with parenting can't be used. Alt+D already used for instancing and the fact that some objects are children for some parent not always mean that in same time those objects has to be instances.

Isn't Alt+P to unlink parenting not enough? You can make some macro operator which will do two operators by one action > duplicate object + then unlink it from parent. This can be done by pretty basic knowledges of python scripting from "for beginners" tutor or by PME addon.

I think it's not true, coz children can be one for parent, eg.

  1. A(parent) -> B(children) -> C(children)

You can't do this: 2. A(parent) -> C(children)

..if like on point 1. exist B(parent) -> C(children)

  • coz when You try then relation is loosed, line of parent children is changed, but maybe are other relations from other functions that blocking this, but can't recognize this.

Isn't Alt+P to unlink parenting not enough?

Well, it's ok, but when doing many duplications, then made some frustration. Right.. PME.. good that Blender offer many options to do by own way, but with idea to grow Blender some of tools can be integrated not like individual things.

This same I don't understand why can't copy object or duplicate with relations as parent > childrens.

Regarding this post: devtalk.blender.org/t/ctrl-g-should-be-bound-to-move-to-collection-new-collection-not-create-new-collection/8872/32 ..and wole topic, to duplicate parent with child user must do this operatio:

  1. Select object that have child
  2. shift+g and select child
  3. Select again main object as parent for child
  4. alt+d / shift + d

Why?

Duplicate parent with child should be automaticly (coz if not with child then more easy to select individual objects as childs without parent to duplcaite - right?)
