Option to hide "Essentials" asset catalog
The native assets are great but they are specific to certain jobs and since the default view is "All", they end up cluttering it for those who don't need them.
I forsee this getting more problematic as more native assets get added to Blender.
A simple solution would be to have an option to disable native catalogs in the Preferences. Not sure it belongs in the File Paths tab like the other Asset Libraries options since it has nothing to do with file paths (but then so does the Import Method option). That would have to be discussed.

Rather than a preference, I think it would make sense for this to be a little button in the asset browser. It would make it more discoverable, and there's likely be some times when you do want to access the built-in assets.
User prefs carry on across .blend files. If you only have a checkbox in the Asset Browser, its state will only be specific to that blend file and will reset on every new project.
When it comes to discoverability, I say the problem is in the User Preferences structure. None of the existing tabs would be an obvious place for it and users may look for it and not find it (like me with the Import Method for a while).
So I suggest :
