New modeling features have stopped appearing in Blender!
New modeling features have stopped appearing in Blender! I as a regular user of Blender openly offended that in recent versions, in particular in the long-awaited version 4.0 developers have completely forgotten about the new modeling features! Blender is primarily an editor for modeling! I want to see new modeling features. Why did they stop improving Bevel, Extrude, Retopology tools, Lattice, Array, Mesh Deform tools?

Geometry nodes (like material nodes) should provide ADDITIONAL capabilities, not basic ones. These nodes are a headache for newbies in blender, and not only for beginners: they don’t help in any way, otherwise they just get in the way. Developers spend too much time on all this fussing with nodes, instead of updating modeling tools and something else (for example, there are still no non-destructive primitives, and a circular array is kind of terrible). I completely agree with the author of this proposal, but will this reach the developers - that is the question.
I'll add it to my message. The developers chose a deliberately wrong strategy, they decided to scatter their efforts on a lot of minor features, and as a result, they missed the focus on the most important and primary tools. Statistically, the main modeling tools take Blender users about 80-90% of their time, so it was a mistake to overlook the main modeling tools. I really ask the developers to reconsider the roadmap and approach to adding features to Blender.
I completely agree that the developers abandoned the obviously basic functionality of the program and threw all their efforts into nodes (who needs them?), grease pencil, sculpting, animation and other things.
It seems that the BF disagrees with that statement:
A lot of the effort in the past years was on modifiers then Geometry Nodes, which not only ports lots of modeling modifiers and tools into nodes but also expands on what they can do, their performances, and their integration with the rest of Blender. Now they shifted to Simulation nodes, and animation (which was supposed to be their focus since 2020 but was delayed). But regardless of their main focuses and roadmap , things keep going all the time.
If you want to know the reasons behind any of the BF's decisions, check on Developer Forum , look at the Developer Blog . Blender is a big software with lots of things to do in many different fields. They can't just focus on one domain at a time, nor do everything at the same time, they have to pick their battles.
Geometry nodes aren't the best example to justify it, geometry nodes will never replace the basic tools, moreover, they don't give anything new for modeling, they just repeat what the basic tools can do, they just do it in a different interpretation. Do geometry nodes have some new Bevel or Extrude tools? Geometric nodes are definitely needed, but developers are very fond of them, throwing all their efforts in that direction and forgetting about the basic tools I have listed.
