Vertex Groups for CURVES
AFAICT there is no equivalent to VERTEX GROUPS for Curves. (If there is, please let me know.)
Even for simply saving SELECTIONS this would be a worthy feature (my main concern, ie not repeating complex Selections), but once implemented could be used for more complex usages, because you could then apply weights that could be referenced by many systems, such as Fields, Particles, Materials, --anything that uses a number (and in CGI, everything uses a number).
(I'm getting afraid there IS such a feature, because it would be so widely applicable. Well, if there is, go ahead and roast the noob.)

A different name, such as Handle Groups, might be better, because in curves, they are not vertices, but control points, or handles (either name means basically the same thing)
Yes!!! Softbody on curves has a really great potential to be incredibly useful- but without the ability to pin the control points, or pin them to empties, the most that can be made is a whole bunch of limp noodles. At least the noodles are fun to watch when screwing around. Giving curves pinning groups for softbody physics would be great for stylized hair, animating whips, and so on!
It also helps to organize effects applied to curves by other modifiers; what's even the point of the weld modifier if there are no vertex groups anyway? Hooks would also be easier to manage.
