Output variables tokens
Hello everyone!
I think it's absolutely crucial for Blender to become undustry standart to have automatic naming system for outputs. I'm a c4d professional user now switching to blender, and I don't remeber the last time I actually named my outputs in c4d, it's always ".//render/$prj/$pass/$pass_" it is must have feature when you have a lot of iterations of your scene.
There's an addon "Oscurart tools" which partially does the job, but it doesn't work in compositors "File output" node and hasn't pass token.
Please consider adding this feature or upgrading the addon, as I said in my opinion it is absolutely crucial for any professional work. Thanks!

Hi! I'm here.
I will add this feature!
Ok, feature is now in Oscurart Tools! If you have doubts I'm in twitter @oscurart
* @Eugenio Pignataro * Really nice! This is something that can be actually used already, now we can use auto-naming for every iteration, I'll hope for $pass token in the future.
there was somebody working on such a thing.. at least there was a discussion over on devtalk about it, dunno if it went anywhere but you could contact the person who was going to add the feature and see what the status is:
devtalk.blender.org/t/filepath-template-proposal/11926/
incidentally, this proposal is a duplicate of at least one other proposal (probably more):
blender.community/c/rightclickselect/Slfbbc/
I think right now the only one available is just using
#in an output file name to indicate frame digits position. We need more.
File Paths templates were added in Blender 4.5 LTS and more should come in the future.
Best one I've found. Works with compositing nodes as well github.com/jeinselen/VF-BlenderAutosaveRender
Having this implemented would save a lot of time, especially when outputting multuple view layers, having them named according to the layer and organized into their own folders automativally is a massive time saver and is an industry standard practice at this point (Unreal Engine does this really well).
actually I took an old script, with some obsolete piece of code in it from this page github.com/patrickhill/blender-datestamper and actualized here the code "#Simplified BSD License

* @studioeffe3d * I'm not a license expert, but I think Blender's python API is under GPL v3 which doesn't let you change the license to BSD.
Besides, could you edit your post to correct the text formatting? Thanks.
* @-L0Lock- * no idea about how to change the formatting, and I left the old edits as they were, so the license terms are those the original OP did
