Smoothness Factor in Subdivision Modifier
Currently if we need to have smoothness by adding the Subdivide Modifier, it only works with Levels(Number of Subdivisions). But if we Subdivide inside Edit Mode we get additional option of Smoothness(Smoothness factor). So in short it will be amazing and useful to see Smoothness available in the Subdivision Modifier itself. This way we can control the Smoothness caused by the Number of Subdivide Levels directly in the Modifier(only enabled in Catmull-Clark).

OpenSubDiv is a standard. If this feature is not in the standard Blender would be breaking from standard and people will complain when they take their models to other programs and don't get the same subdivided result.
There is a smooth modifier that probably does what you want.
The thought behind this was, of bringing what we can control in edit mode, in the modifier tab. But I agree with both the points of maintaining the Subdivision Standards as well as using edge crease with the modifier. Thanks.
Edge crease can give the same result with better control.
