Modo like poly cut loop tool
In blender loop cut cannot pass through polygons ...it needs quads ....but in modo we can loop cut through polygons

the problem is simply that the algorithm doesn't have a way to 'choose' which side of the tri/ngon to go; Having several discontinuous cuts would solves that but bring a lot of other problems
And you can use snap utilities line addon come free by default but its not activ by default.
You can use the knife tool instead
