Keyboard becomes inactive when mouse pointer leaves the viewport

When I use blender I lay on my bed and I have a hard mousepad so when I take my hand off the mouse to type something it just slides off the mouse pad.. And when I try and enter in my data via the keyboard I can I have to stop and recenter the mouse and then try and hold it and type with one hand... I notice other windows apps even I think Adobe premiere pro the mouse could be anywhere on the screen and the keyboard still works otherwise everything is 100% perfect thank you so much for this awesome software

Each editor in Blender has its own hotkeys. Blender selects which editor to forward the hotkeys to by the position of the mouse. This is a very good thing. 3D view is not always the priority.

I'm not sure if I understand this correctly. As someone already said, Blender selects which editor is active by the position of the mouse. If your mouse is sliding off, try putting it on something flat, because laying in bed will always result in it sliding from your weight pushing down into the bed.
