Addon developers need to stop shoving every addon in that area. I'd say at least 20% of them would make more sense elsewhere, either in another existing area or in their own brand new Editor window.

agreed they should try to add things to the toolbar i want you to try out fast loop and merge tool addon they add to the tool bar and are helpful this will further support the addition to the toolbar in the addons industry of blender

Its not the addon developers responsibility... its blenders to fix the N panel...

MANY MANY MANY good proposals are made during the YEARS about the N panel but no one is listening

Pablo once looked at it and declared that its really hard to implement, wtf? how hard is it to stop the bar from compressing and act like any other panel bar in blender?

At least cant they explain how is it ""hard""?

tbh I'm now divided on this issue right now idk which side to choose addon devs or blender devs

thinsoldier

It's both. For things that make sense in the N panel, the N panel needs improvements. For a great many things that make more sense somewhere other than the N panel, they should be put somewhere other than the N panel.

I've heard pablo and some guests and devs in the chat say all the UI code is just absolutely horrible to work with. I've seen comments from 3ds max plugin devs saying that even though they love python and have a lot of experience with it, there just something about various ways of using python in Blender that they just hated so they never ported any of their 3ds max work to Blender.

im surprised they should fix this issue this will be a big problem in the future time to do some ui re writing

I think everyone agrees that the N panel should see some love, though I'm not sure a scroll button is it. Even it existed I don't know how it would help matters much in your case. I mean, 300 addons...

In the meantime you might wanna take a look at an addon called "Simple Tabs" that lets you organize your N panel tabs under custom groups.

it will help a scroll button will help kids who dont mouses with adults too so plus if they add space generation there wont be a need for such deadly combustion of menus to the point they are basically tiny squares

for people who dont know pablo left joseph eagar is the new dev of sculpting and im probably spelling his name wrong

after reading all these comments i have realised that this isnt blenders fault but the addon developers

another thing side bar squares/buttons should not decrease in in size to the point that you cannot see the name of the addon or menu the scroll button should decrease in size so as we scroll down more buttons/sqaures will appear with their names so infinite space for the sizebar which can be generated so it doesnt combust like mine

thinsoldier

One way to help in this situation is to let addons define icons and when there is no space for the name, show the icon instead.
