An editable table showing rows of selected vertices, and columns of Vertex Groups on the active object.
It would help to:
- See and assign Vertex Group weights numerically, using selection tools instead of weight paint brushes.
- Provide a way to see if a vertex has weight assignments totaling over 1 or under 1.
- Easily see if a vertex has weight in a vertex group, and zero it out if desired.

Like an Attribute Spreadsheet. I could see this being a broader request, where the mesh-centric data is listed under a tab, and other linked data is listed elsewhere in their own discreet tabs (eg. Material attributes, Object Attributes, etc). Maya's attribute spreadsheet is a good example, though I'm disappointed sometimes that it doesn't list EVERY attribute.
Really good for doing mass editing across large and varied selections.
I think we will see this when everything nodes and modifier nodes are coming to blender. Full control over vertices is a must-have when dealing with procedural modeling. Houdini also has a very detailed spreadsheet where every value of a vertex can be found. (Color, index, connected vertices, normal vector etc.)
Coming from Maya, I really miss this. Was super helpful to dial in weights, especially on low poly models.
In houdini it is essential. I think as soon as everythings nodes project grows bigger this will become a must have.
This could be really useful sometimes :)
Currently you can select vertices and see the group weight values in the sidebar, but it works for the active vertex only. To have it like in Maya would be nice.
