3D Space Visualization UV Mapping

UV unwrapping tab is basically layout with UV window attached. I was thinking of an idea of you can see it live in 3D space as you unwrap it and the UV 2D space shows it in 2D space. It could be interesting. Maybe just live unwrapping. Something more than what is there. I know this sounds like a complete overhaul it is but I am only just tossing it out there. Take a pair of scissors snip along an edge and it unfolds in 3D space with a checker map auto mapped for you to see it but you can use texture if you wish. Snip snip snip and of course welding would weld it back together. Feels like the UV layout tab is wasted. I know you can customize it and stuff but still.
