Turning collections on/off consistency
Whenever I turn on a collection that was previously turned off, it makes all the objects in the collection visible. ALL OF THEM. Even objects that were hidden. This is a small thing, but having to hide multiple objects every time I turn on a collection is a hassle. The idea is that when i turn on the collection, I get the objects only which were visible before, when the collection was turned on.

that behaviour should only happen if you are use the checkmark icon on the outliner. using the eye or the display should not unhide all the objects within a collection. But I also think that it would be better if the status of each object ist kept also when using the checkmark
I have come across this issue myself and I agree, it is a little irritating but I believe this functionality is by design in that the "Hide in viewport" option is specified as "temporary". An option available to you immediately is to use "Disable in viewport" instead, i.e. the "monitor" icon as opposed to the "eye" icon.
This only happens on my system if I'm holding down the shift key, which overrides all contained objects. If I do not hold the shift key, it works as you are requesting.
