Copy & Paste nodes at cursor optional

It would be great if the "Copy & Paste nodes at cursor" feature introduced in 3.5 could be made optional.

While I understand that the intent is to save time, it is actually counter productive in some cases. When copying and pasting entire node trees from on material to another, the old logic would place the nodes in the same location, which was very fast and convenient.

The new logic places the center of the tree at the cursor position, which invariably means the nodes must be moved manually after pasting to keep the trees in the same position.

The ability to revert to the old logic would be a great time saver.

Perhaps ctrl+shift+v would do it in place, and ctrl+v would paste it on the cursor, similar to how i think flash and photoshop handled stuff

I think that's a great idea!

Couldn't agree more, but as a workaround I found if you use node > paste, it will create it on on the original position, still annoying

Tried going to the input settings and adjusting it there but it seems bugged

Well spotted. The right-click menu uses the new logic, though.

Agreed! I just encountered this after upgrading from 3.4 and I'm not liking this change at all.

can't you just put your cursor at the center or whatever when you paste?

For that to work, you'd have to be able to gauge exactly where the center of the node tree is and then place your mouse there while pasting. This is practically impossible -- and the old logic eliminated the need; it simply pasted the copied nodes in the same position. The new logic can be handy when you copy and paste single nodes or very small subtrees, but for trees of any size the old logic is faster and easier to use.
