Make proposals "expire"

Since this site is slowly & steady growing, the list of proposal might become a problem: finding interesting proposals is becoming and will become more and more a tedious work of scrolling/filtering. From a user point of view, for casting votes, and most important, in coders perpesctive, to find an entry to work on (hopefully, since it's the whole reason for this site to exist). How to deal with it? A possible solution is to make the entries "expire" in case the get no attention (votes) after a to-be-decided number of days. This could be proportional with number of votes: if =<0 few days, a little more if within a range of, say, 1-5 votes. Proposals with pictures mockup might receive a bonus ;) Possibly the expiring should send the entries to a sort of trash, or bin, or say the word that better fits ("trash" might be harsh and misunderstood, you know), a dedicated category that saves them from oblivion, but entries from this category shouldn't appear along with the others. This solution might be useful to keep this site clean from useless/unfeasible/joke/fake/bad/whatever/silly proposals, giving it more appeal for developers.

This idea sounds a lot like the auto-locking system we have on BA. While I understand the desire, I think that the real solution is to make it easier to work through the ideas that are posted. So, search, better sorting, fixed navigation within a category... all of those should make the need for an expiration feature unnecessary.

So here we have a paradox: this proposal is gonna stay, while its content says it should expire :D My concern is that devs might be uncomfortable with this site, if proposals "quality" goes down and good ideas get lost into the noise. Maybe a sort by votes feature would be enough, as already proposed elsewhere...

I think good alternative would be a tagging system where proposals could be "tagged" as incomplete or confirmed (i.e. there is a task on developer.blender.org ). People could then browse through the "open" proposals that haven't been tagged yet.

There's a proposal that exists for this ... a couple actually. It's planned.

Glad to hear it's planned! It will be a great addition to the site.
