world origin to cursor
It would be very useful if we could change the world origin location to another place e.g. to cursor position.
I'm currently working with the fSPY plugin and I really miss that option... youtu.be/7DfSDCFgINE
As far as I can see, it would also be useful for animation: blender.stackexchange.com/questions/227100/set-world-origin-to-cursor-how-to
At this post it is mentioned that Revit and Rhino have that option: blenderartists.org/t/move-change-the-world-origin/1351854

Changing world origin mean rewriting all locations for all obects in the scene at 1st level. Rewriting all keys of all animations.
So you idea fits to cases, when you work with 2 cubes, but not with production scenes.
Make your scenes wisely instead asking such things, that might fix your mistakes.
And, if you need o move all in the end, just put all into collection, instance it and move wherever you want. For animations there is NLA

Make your comments wisely, instead writing such contradictional things.
@Vyach - I don't do much animation so I know zero about keyframes. However I would expect that if I put an empty where I want the world origin to be and then parented the entire scene contents to that empty (being careful to only select top level parent objects and not all objects ) and then alt+G the empty to move it to the world origin and then ctrl+a apply location on all objects and then unparent from the Empty, that should work to move the world origin - as long as all of the keyframed location values also get changed when I did ctrl+a apply location. No?
«Apply location» is literally overwriting each vertex position. That will ruin: origins, shapekeys, mirror modifiers (cuz they bonded to origins), tracking constraints.
So no. Relatively safe way is only parenting to empty.
As I said, it works well wit default cube, but not wit real projects. To feel a bit, just try to move origin of 16M vtx monkey. (vieport→options→affect only origins), then grab
