Image Editor: Selection Tools
It would be great if there were selection tools available in the Image Editor such as:
- Rectangle Selection
- Polygon Selection [^1]
- Lasso Selection
and...
- Magic Wand Selection [^2]
- Pressing DELETE with a selection tool active (and there is a selection region defined) all of the pixels inside the selection would be replaced with the current brush color.
- Pressing SHIFT-DELETE would add alpha to the selected region
- The arrow keys would nudge the pixels in the selection by 1 pixel in the arrow key direction. Holding SHIFT + Arrow Key would nudge by 10 pixels (configurable)
- CTRL-C would copy all the pixels inside of the all the selections and CTRL-V would paste the copied pixels as a "floating" selection that can be placed with the mouse.
Additional behaviour: If the mouse is INSIDE any of the selections in the selection stack AND SHIFT is pressed, change the mouse to the move tool and move the pixels in the selection by the mouse movement. ELSE mouse is OUTSIDE all selection rules 1. 2. 3. apply.
[^1] Polygon selection would have constrain to horizontal and vertical (maybe 45 degree too) when the SHIFT key is pressed when click click clicking the polygon shape. Middle click/ENTER to close polygon and create selection. Right click cancels.
OPTIONAL: Multiple selections - Holding SHIFT when defining a new selection would add to the selection "stack"
OPTIONAL OPTIONAL: Boolean selections: Subtraction - Holding CTRL when defining a new selection will SUBTRACT from existing selections on the selection stack that overlap the new "subtraction region" (aka clipping).
[^2] Magic Wand selection would sample the hue/color of the pixel under the mouse when clicked, trace contours of all pixels of that color, and create a selection from the contour that the clicked pixel is inside. An option to "anti-alias" or smooth the selection would be beneficial.

It would have been much greater if they were in the 3d texture paint mode too. :")
That would make sense in paint mode
