Blender as a browser of importable files
More important than being able to drag and drop an OBJ or GLTF (for me personally) is I need a way to quickly see what those files look like to see which one is the one I actually want.
This idea would probably be another program built on top of a subset of Blender's functionality.
It would be a file browser that you'd use to navigate to a folder full of GLTFs (I'm looking at a folder with 273 gltf's right now) and as you click once on each file Blender would automatically erase the scene, import the gltf, and show it in material preview mode. Once you find the one you need there's a button that will save the blend file and open it in a regular copy of blender.

This idea needs a bit more refinement, but I like where it's going so I upvoted it. Is this something that the Asset Manager addresses in 3.0?
It was reported many times I think no changes due requirements to change API around and probably need from developers to modify addons. Note that exist many other unique addons.
