old button icons available in preferences
Because of the more limited animation controls and displacement baking in newer blender, I find myself splitting my time between old and new blender, originating projects in 2.79 and then migrating them over to the newer version for finishing after animation.
Moving back and forth between them, I would say that the older buttons are much easier on the eyes. The human eye craves pattern changes and color breaks to orient itself. I would be working in 2.9 for a while and think the new buttons were fine, then switch back to 2.79 and I would notice how much less strain there was.
I've watched all the Pablo videos and have followed the 2.8 development. I know why the changes were made and that the newer buttons are not resolution dependent, etc. I'm sure a lot of people like it the way it is now, but I think the older buttons with a red dot for record and a world that just looks like the world is easier to work with over a long day.
So I'm wondering how hard it would be in preference to have a choice where the UI can just swap out the older button images where appropriate.
Thanks

In fact, many people voiced their concern about this all flat icons and their lack of visual clues to tell them appart. The BF tried to reach halfway by assigning some flat colors to certain groups of icons, and I think at some point it was also aimed to have an icon pack system but this was never done.
