Lottie animation export option

Hi! I am working on a website for my business, and I am just learning about Lottie animations, which is an easy way to display animations (on scroll, for example) on your website. According to their website "Lottie is a library for Android, iOS, Web, and Windows that parses Adobe After Effects animations exported as json with Bodymovin and renders them natively on mobile and on the web". That works with vector animations, as well as with video, 3d animations, you name it.

I am using Webflow to build my site, which makes this even easier, as you don't need to write a single line of code to make it work. The only problem is that you need After Effects to be able to create these lottie animations. I'm not a developer, but would it be possible use Blender to export a video as a lottie animation? Please find links to see what I mean:

This last youtube playlist also shows a Cinema4D/After Effects workflow that Blender could take care of if it had this export option. Basically all of Blender's 3D goodness+Grease pencil available to designers, but unlike After Effects, for free.

There is also an older proposal on this forum that didn't seem to get a lot of traction, talking about a Lottie addon:

If the library is not available for all major desktop platforms (Windows, macOS and Linux), it's not likely to be included as part of Blender.

* @Pablo Vazquez * Shoot I didn't realize that. However Synfig studio, the 2d animation program is getting this export feature in their next release, and they are cross platform, so I wonder how they make it work:

There is also this addon for Blender, but in the Right click select post that I quoted above they say it has some limitations:

Unfortunately I'm no developer and can't help figure this out, but this would be an amazing feature. Lottie animations are becoming really popular:

This is already available as an addon.

  1. Copy the addons/blender folder from gitlab.com/mattbas/python-lottie/-/tree/master into your addon bin e.g. C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 2.93\2.93\scripts\addons
  2. Install the lottie python library by running the python that ships with Blender
cd "C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 2.93\2.93\python\bin\"
.\python -m pip install lottie

Linux is a major server platform. Desktop? Not so sure.

As far as it under MIT licence, may be it is possible. But looks more like a task for addon.

Crea una imagen en tres dimensiones y con perspectiva conica de una bruja con cara fea, verrugas, mal peinada, nariz grande, que se vea de frente, que esté volando con su escoba, y que el rabo de la escoba se vea que pasa por la luna

Having a Grease Pencil to JSON export (Lottie) would be really interesting for mobile (motion) designers.

YESSS finally someone who is using Webflow and has the same problem as me. If blender does figure out how to export videos as lottie json files then it would really be great. I mean first they would have to convert the video file into keyframes which i think is available in blender...maybe a bodymovin-like addon or feature for blender would really create another use case for blender - WEBSITES AND 3D videos. It would be great if something like this is possible in the future....mind my english idk i'm not a native speaker.

I have the same requirement. I built our company website in Webflow and I'd love to add in some movement. I've been using Blender for a while, on and off and if I could just get something simple, but elegant it would elevate the site. Lottie would be the obvious choice for interactivity.
