Better hotkey to focus on nodes

Current Behavior:

  • When a node is selected, we can press "Numpad . " to focus on it. If nothing is selected, the key does nothing.
  • When nodes are not visible, we can press "Home" to focus on existing nodes

Suggested behavior:

  • a single key to focus on selected nodes. If nothing is selected, it focuses on all existing nodes. If the nodes are already selected and focused, then the key behaves like the "Home" key.

In fact, this could be used for any other editor. Have it default to "home" when selection is empty.

I agree with @-L0Lock-, in that if there isn't a selection then Frame Selection(.) should default to Frame All(home), but they should still be different keys and operations. There are times when I have only some things selected, but I still want to frame everything. Your suggestion would remove this behavior and I would have to either deselect or select everything to get the functionality I already get with one key right now.

yes. current behaviors can remain, but in my description, you don't lose any functionality. the key would toggle between framing the selection or framing everything.

Ok yes, you wouldn't need to deselect or select all like I originally said, but if some are selected and not framed, you would need to double tap the frame key to frame selection and then frame all instead of doing the operation with one input. Not a big deal I guess, but I prefer to keep the number of inputs I have to make down if it can be helped.

It's how Maya works too, you have keys for both frame all and frame selected, but frame selected does frame everything when nothing is selected. And you also have a frame range in the animation editors.
