Keep the Color Space Consistent when Replacing Images on Shaders
When an image on your shader is set to Linear, and you replace it with another image, the Color Space automatically switches to the default sRGB. This change occurs without specifying that you want to alter the Color Space.
This behavior seems like a bug, particularly because it can create issues when testing HDRIs or changing images for roughness. It disrupts the workflow, adding an unnecessary extra step that could easily be overlooked.
So, fixing this bug isn't just about making things easier; it's about smoothing out the workflow. If the Color Space doesn’t switch without us telling it to, we won’t run into those problems. It's a small change that makes a big difference.
EDIT: If I can still add to this conversation: Inside the node there are other settings like Projection, Extension, etc. And those don't sync. So you change something from RGB to Linear and it changes the setting on all other nodes. But you change the Extension from Clip to Repeat and it only changes on the single node. Seems weird (almost buggy) to me...

I think this is because the setting is in the image data block instead of the image texture node data block.
For me this is also a problem. Sometimes I'm working with an image and it works better as srgb for color and Linear for Roughness. Explains why it keeps changing. Shouldn't this be based on the node since it's exposed there?
afaik colorspace is embedded to data in image. So going srgb -> linear actually changes image itself.
At least it works like that in Unreal an Unity.
But if it's like that shouldn't it be exposed somewhere besides the node? Like on the sidebar? It doesn't let the user know the color space is changing on all nodes that have the image, it's really weird...
Agree and should be treated as a bug imo
Drives me a little bit crazy specially bc it doesn't make a lot of sense..
