Button to swap output dimension UI design

Hi, I saw a post in twitter that this feature will be implemented projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/145923

I think the current design is a little bit hidden for a useful function.

I ask google gemini to generate me a code that can make a simple button UI for it.

This is not really a feature request and you're just showcasing an AI python addon. As you said, the feature is already implemented and the design has been discussed with the internal developpers and person responsible for the Blender UI consistency.

If you disagree with their design and think you have a better idea, the best place is to comment directly on the PR : projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/145923 But note that the feature already have been merged and any future change might not happen unless you design idea is much better.

I personnally think a boolean checkbox "Use Vertical Resolution" could be a better solution, always keeping the lowest pixel value as the X dimension. It would update everytime you change the resolution (or when drag clicking on the value, when you release the mouse)

But I did not comment it since the feature is already Merged.

How often do You swap resolutions, so it have to be huge button visible at all times cluttering UI?

it's not about how often users swap resolution. it's because a feature like that should be grouped with the resolution x,y inputs. Who would have thought that a right click in one of those inputs would swap those dimension? The Ui i presented is just an idea, it could be just a small swap icon besides those inputs. I think they put it on the right click context menu because they have UI guidelines to follow.

Tbh, that should be intuition, and Blender should just have more of things in context menu where it lacks, so You would have actually checked, it works in other softwares.

As in link You posted, reason they didnt do that already is:

It offsets labels and it's not future proof if we want to add more functionality (such as "Lock Aspect Ratio", which would have a similar design just with a lock icon).
