Animation render time estimation

We love math and calculate things, don't we all, but after all these years and the many times this was requested, wouldn't it be great you add a little code line somewhere to add this feature in Blender ?

How does blender know how long the next frame will take, until it gets to it? The next 1909 frames?

Without setting a render time limit ofc

How does Windows know how long the next file will take to copy ? Estimates ! if frame 1 took 10 seconds, then it should take around 100 seconds to render 10 frames. if frame 2 took 7 seconds, then that's ( frame 1 + frame 2 / 2) * 10... Minus time elapsed. And so on and so forth. We are not talking about rocket science, just how long we can hope to sleep before we need to set the alarm and check the render.

Frame 1 has no volumetrics in frame. Frame 90-600 does. Huge difference in rendering times for those frames, and the estimate will be useless.

Many users will then start complaining "I started my render, and it said it would take 2 hours, and now it's been all night and still not done. What is wrong with my scene?"

"How does Windows know how long the next file will take to copy ?"

Windows knows the full size of data it's copying before it begins, and knows the transfer rate. That math isn't applicable here.

Speaking of this, considering how fast renders are nowadays, it would be nice to have the overall progress of the render in % (rather than the progress of the current frame... Right now I'm rendering 2000 frames that take each around 300ms, my progress bar is basically showing 0% throughout the whole process...
