Allow Snap Base to be used in Scripting

I've been struggling for a very long time with this. I want to be able to use Snap Base in my scripts -for positioning, user selection etc. This doesn't seem to be exposed, and the BVH is difficult to use.

Will Snap Base ever be exposed for us mere mortals to use outside of Transforms?
