Shorten the edge gradient when selecting vertices.
By performing retopology and subdividing the model, I've noticed that the vertex gradient is shortened due to the subdivision modifier. I believe this effect could be applied more generally without the subdivided mesh by adjusting the gradient fade, so it doesn't reach the end, or at least fades more smoothly.
In the image on the right, the fade occurs halfway along the edge without reaching the end, However, if the gradient could be directly controlled, I think a more intense fade near the selected vertex and a smoother fade towards its neighbors would look fantastic.
Gradient edges help detect overlapping vertices, but shortening the gradient still displays them.
Here's my retopology tutorial so you can see the effect in action. However, it's slightly different from the one shown, as the mesh is subdivided twice, which is why it's even shorter. youtu.be/3rGb5ERoQnE
