Optional Edit Mode Cursor

It would improve the user's ability to customize their experience if it was possible to optionally set the edit mode cursor to just use a regular mouse pointer, rather than a precision cross pointer.

I agree with you. The edit mode cursor is a pain in the butt. I don't use it... 👎

Here's the cursor I use... (I invaded the blender executable for this, not recommended lol...)

Having said that, this was once addressed and "fixed" archive.blender.org/developer/D6485 yeah, regular mouse pointer in edit mode at last , but for some bloody unknown reason it was reverted.... Smh...

Then later there was an effort to overhaul this all cursor nightmare with proper companion icons and stuff, like: Alt text but it never moved forward... rip...

The fact that you see people downvoting an optional feature says everything about the blender users. It's sad, very sad.

there is a build available with that feature. so you can choose the regular mouse pointer or even other cursors to work in sculpt mode: builder.blender.org/download/patch/PR116645/

Yes, the cross sucks.

Iirc harley was working on this feature, but I can't find the task. It was on the old site.

But yeah, it was implemented at some point, and looked great. The problem are the hardcore blender users, they are against every change. Blender needs a strong UI leader, otherwise nothing will ever improve UI wise.
