3d view mouse rotate - pan auto swap when in top, left , front view
Is it possible to use middle mouse button to pan in top front and left views like in node editors, but still use middle mouse to rotate in perspective 3d view? I know i can swap, but not view specific. Top, front left view should navigate like node editors.

But then it would make the viewport keymap inconsistent and force you do do another action in order to get out of this behavior when you need it.
* @-L0Lock- * rotate is not really needed in front or top view and it breaks me into perspective view by accident all the time, therefore i would include an option to use middle mouse as pan in those 2d views like in other 2d views like shader od composite editor. It would actually make workflow more consistant. It wouldn't need remapping, just a simple toggle to turn on and off in preferences. Becouse one mostly rotates in 3d and mostly pans in 2d, it would make sense to use the same middle mouse button.
It's not a 2D view per say, it's orthographic and through an axis. The need to rotate or not is really specific to the user. I need to rotate, or at least to get out of the axis point of view. It's always faster with a mouse click instead of moving one of your hands up to the numpad.
How would the workflow be more consistent since in the 3D view you're using the midlemouse to rotate all the time ? Making it pan in some specific cases will basically require the user to learn that simetimes in the same editor, it works one way then the other.
* @-L0Lock- * >sure, workflow is always user specific, that's why I would include it as an option. If on by default it wouldn't be any good for users.
Yup. Or we could go deeper in the rabbit hole and change the default mouse map so that MMB is always used for panning in every editor. x)
