Additive use of "Indirect Only" and "Holdout" modes simultaneously

Hola, community!

So here is one more case where additive use of "Indirect Only" + "Holdout mode" could be useful. What I need is to separate the "Glass panels" element with all the reflections and refractions of the hidden elements with the "View Layers". And yes I know that I could use an "Indirect Only" with "Cryptomatte" to do this, but, you know... more steps. So please see the attached image at the bottom of this post and maybe you will like this idea:

  • A) Full render

  • B) Glass panels "Indirect Only" mode

  • C) Glass panels "Holdout" mode ( Also that's what I'm getting when using "Indirect Only" + "Holdout" on a single collection simultaneously)

  • D) "Indirect Only" + "Holdout mode" ( Here I used a trick of duplicating the "Glass panels" collection. The first collection was set to "Indirect Only" and the second was set to "Holdout" mode.

But as a side effect, I'm getting a glitch of two models occupying the same space. I tried to use 0.001 displace modifier, but that hasn't fixed the problem )

  • E) Desired behavior of the "Indirect Only" + "Holdout mode" combination on a single collection.

Thanks, Guys!

This would be very handy and it sounds something that i tried to explain here in other proposal. But this sounds more advanced (y) great idea. Also some clip selected objects (or holdout selected objects collection would be nice -some way to "mask" / generate alpha mask to pass light through with selected "mask object" it would be very handy).

* @cosmical * Yeah, I mean the idea is kind of simple, but hard to understand though. In short Indirect is saving all the shadows, reflections, refractions, and holdout should do a perfect clipping mask for all these goodies. But right now it doesnt.
