Cache for compositor
A node which allow to have a cache in the compositor, like after effect, Natron, or Nuke.
Blender compositor is really cool and powerful, but without cache it’s unusable for animation, which is a real waste.
Why a node for caching? it allow you to make many cache step in your render, and avoid re-rendering all heavy effect you set up.here a proposal of node’s design and option :
the project have already his wiki page here :

Any news on this?
Functionality like that (with a node cache) has been added to Styriam Toolty addon youtu.be/tIkmz6gtdAQ

Hi, this guy made a cool thing for better cache for compositor and sequencer. Maybe not exactly what you ask but realy realy good. youtube.com/watch
this isn't the same thing, although it's nice as well. I think we're looking for a node that can cache a specific point in the compositing node chain, rather than just the final use. This would speed up my current project enormously!
oops wrong anwser sorry ^^
you already have this: add... imput... mask
make the mask in the movie clip editor
That sounds interesting and useful. So, it would work like the already existing "File Output" node, but with an output connection, and if the frames exist in the path, instead of rendering every node upstream of it, it'll just read the frames from the disk in that path and pass them on downstream to the output. Right ?
Thats it !
Great idea! Would it be able to cache vectors as well?
What do you mean by vector ? Mask ?
Sorry if I was vague. In your mock-up you show it being used with image sockets (yellow), would it also be able to work with vector sockets (blue)?
Well, I don't know if its possible to store vector information. In my opinion, cache result should be pictures, in png or something else. If there are vector operations in your node tree, it should be the image result which is store in the cache.
It is possible to save vectors. Usually when we're talking about Blender, a vector is just a collection of three values. An easy way to see this is with location. Now, what is color in a computer? It's three values (RGB) stored together. Therefore, vectors can be stored as image files.
