In edit mode, ALT+Click Drag to paint selection

You can sense how quickly the paint selection is, there is an addon also called "raycast select" but it is a separate function and many keys conflict with it. Blender has Ctrl+RMB to also select but it don't use often. Many 3d programs like Maya and mood also has similar feature. It will fast the selection process. The click may be Left/Right based on users choice. I already done that with raycast select addon.
